Rabbits – those furry, adorable creatures that never fail to bring a smile to our faces. For the past eight years, my life has been intertwined with these critters and I want the very best for them.

My Love for Rabbits

Lionhead rabbit
Coral, lionhead

Mavis, lop/rex/Flemish giant

It all started innocently enough, with a tiny ball of fluff named Coral, hopping into my life. I did the extensive research and was overwhelmed by the information. I wasn't ready for something so high maintenance. If it wasn't for my husband and a surprise trip to Willard, I would have never known what I was missing. We can also put that little tidbit into everyday learning. I would have felt an emptiness and wouldn't know why. Have you ever felt that feeling? Do something that you always wanted to do, but are too scared. It might change your life. Come to find out, From that moment, I was captivated. Watching her explore, nibble on treats, and flop contentedly became the highlight of my days. I found myself yearning to understand more about these intricate creatures that had stolen my heart, and So I did.

I have read several books, and materials about rabbits. I went through online courses, took classes , and attendedlive webinars and received many certificates.

The Fascinating World of Rabbits

Rabbits are so much more than just cute pets. Did you know that they have a complex social structure? Observing their interactions and hierarchies is like witnessing a miniature society in action. Their distinctive behaviors, from thumping their hind legs to communicating through an impressive range of vocalizations, never cease to amaze me.

Here are a few facts about rabbits that never fail to spark my curiosity:

  • Incredible Agility: Rabbits are not just fast; they are also incredibly agile. Watching them navigate obstacles and perform acrobatic feats is a sight to behold. Now, Coral being a solo bun for 7 years doesn't know this....yet. Her sister is slowly teaching her though. lol

  • Unique Personalities: Just like us, each rabbit has its own distinct personality. Some are bold and adventurous, while others are more cautious and reserved. Like Coral and Mavis for example. Coral is calm and full of elegance and doesn't know she's a rabbit. She hates her feet getting even the slightest bit wet, sandy, or dirty. Mavis on the other hand is a tornado. LOVES dirt and sandboxes and absolutely knows she can jump fences. Reminds me of when you have the perfect child the first time so you try for a second. Then the second is a hellion. I wouldn't trade her though.

  • Bonding Rituals: Rabbits are social animals that form deep bonds with their companions. Witnessing the intricate bonding between bonded pairs is heartwarming, but it doesn't always start that way. You have to go through an in-depth bonding process that can last months. We are still in that bonding phase and it is NOT pleasant. It's frustrating and nerve-wracking, and there's a lot of patience involved.

The Joy of Learning

My journey with rabbits has been a continuous learning experience. Whether I'm researching their dietary needs, exploring enrichment activities, or understanding their grooming habits, every discovery brings me closer to loving them even more.

One of the most rewarding aspects of studying rabbits is being able to provide them with the best care possible. From creating enriching play spaces to ensuring a balanced diet, every effort is a labor of love. HINT HINT BETTER BUNNY BOUTIQUE
